What would you do?

Calling out a friend when they’re making a mistake isn’t easy, but it could make a huge difference to their future, and yours.

🗣️ Start the conversation. It’s not the time to get angry, you don’t want to start an argument pushing your friends away. Instead, let your friend know about the risks involved and the devastating ripple effect caused by knife crime.

👥 Encourage a two-way conversation. While it’s important to stress the facts, you also want your friend to share their feelings with you. We know that the reasons young people carry knives are complex, but with a better understanding, we can challenge misconceptions and offer the right support.

🤝 Your friend needs you. In addition to community and council-funded organisations, your support is key to helping your friend change their views and make better choices.
We all have a part to play in reducing knife crime in our county. It’s time that together, we take a stand against knife crime, it’s time to think twice, think life and Just Drop It.

Keeping knives out of the hands of young people is everyone’s business.

Parents and carers, are you concerned that your child is carrying a blade, are you aware of their online purchases, have knives gone missing from the kitchen?

Professionals, are we empowering young people to make better decisions, equipping them with what they need to excel, listening to their concerns and addressing them head on?

Community, are we reporting concerning activity, could you support a young person in making a change, will you share our message?

It’s time that together we take a stand against knife crime, it’s time to #ThinkTwiceThinkLife & #JustDropIt

The effects of knife crime ripple far beyond the victim and the perpetrator.

Mothers, Fathers, Siblings, Grandparents, Friends, Teachers, The list goes on.

We are committed to challenging any attitude or behaviour that suggests violence, carrying a knife or using a weapon is okay.

We make this commitment for the safety of young people across Bedfordshire. For their loved ones. And our community as a whole.

Knife crime ruins lives and we must all play a part in getting knives off our streets and keeping our county safe.
