Bedfordshire’s Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit (VERU) flagship campaign ‘Just Drop It’ has been recognised in the House of Commons as efforts to tackle knife crime continue across the county.
Following a meeting with the unit’s Communications Team last month, Luton MPs Sarah Owen and Rachel Hopkins, paid homage to the ground-breaking campaign that launched in November 2023.
Just Drop It seeks to shine a light on the ripple effect of knife crime by sharing the experiences of families and communities, aiming to deter young people from carrying or ever using a blade.
The campaign launched by sharing a short film about the lived experience of the VERU’s Senior Youth Intervention Specialist, Roseann Taylor whose son, Azaan Kaleem, was stabbed to death in 2018.
